Artists Project Earth – who have a long history of supporting climate change mitigation, adaptation and awareness-raising projects – are celebrating World Environment Day by releasing ‘Rhythms Del Mundo: Rio + 20’ linking the great work going on during World Environment Day with the forthcoming Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro later in June 2012. It’s a great album of new tracks including ‘John & Yoko’ by Rokia Traore and ‘Rhythms of the Earth’ by Xavier Rudd, plus a Cuban remix of the track ‘Spirit of the Forest’ – featuring Kate Bush, Mick Fleetwood, Lenny Kravitz, Gilberto Gil, Ringo Starr, Donna Summer, David Gilmore, Debbie Harry, Iggy Pop, Joni Mitchell, the B-52’s, Bryan Wilson and the Beach Boys – which was originally released at the first Earth Summit twenty years ago, together with some classics such as ‘A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall’ by Bob Dylan and ‘Fragilidad’ by Sting.
